A local county councillor has said that it is ‘disappointing’ that planned works to repair potholes and poor road surfacing appear to have been put on the back-burner.
At the recent meeting of East Williamston Community Council, county councillor for the ward Cllr Jacob Williams reported that the Co-operative group had ‘gone back’ on its prior intentions to completely resurface the tarmac on its area of land which forms the road to Kilgetty surgery, bus station and community hall.
Whilst this was located in the neighbouring community, Cllr Williams said that the Co-op's promise was the result of efforts by councillors in the locality, who requested that the landowner sort out the surface's ‘very poor’ condition.
Cllr Williams told members that this news was ‘most disappointing’ especially considering how well it is used. However, he had been informed by Cllr Alistair Cameron of the Kilgetty and Begelly ward that, following the Co-op's u-turn, and further representations, they had agreed to obtain quotes with a view to undertaking patch repairs to the potholes.
He said such repairs would still be most welcome and hoped that, as a community-minded organisation, the Co-op would be reluctant to let people down a second time and proceed with the job.
