A sporty St. Florence six-year-old who suffers with severe heart problems is giving up his chocolate treats over Easter to raise funds for charity!

Charlie Cronick, who plays football for Tenby U7s and attends St. Florence VC School, was born very ill with Tetralogy of Fallot and other severe heart problems.

He has decided to chuck the chocolate in for a month, avoid the Easter bunny and go on a DECHOX for the whole of March to help the British Heart Foundation fund its life saving heart research - which means absolutely no chocolate bars, no chocolate cake and no choccy biscuits with his tea!

Last year, over 19,000 dedicated Dechoxers took on the nationwide sponsored challenge to give up chocolate for March, raising nearly £800,000 in the process for the BHF - an incredible amount from a nation of true chocoholics!

“Charlie regularly travels up to Bristol for specialist treatment and understands where the money he’s hoping to raise will go, as there is a freezer provided at the facility with food, treats and the like for families who are attending,” explained his mother Jess.

“It’s been a struggle for Charlie, but he just gets on with things, loves playing football and wants to do something to help other people like himself.

“So far we’ve had an amazing response to his ‘justgiving’ page which we’ve called - ‘Charlie’s can’t go near the chocolate factory challenge’, with £395 reached so far, even though Charlie’s initial goal was to aim for £100.

“One local has generously donated £250 offline from the Leon Heart Fund, which is amazing,” added Jess.
