Young boccia players from across Pembrokeshire were invited to County Hall last week.

The young sportsmen and women were guests of the county council's chairman, Clr. Robin Evans, at a special reception.

The young players have had increasing success in their sport, with Ysgol y Preseli pupil, Jacob Thomas, representing Wales.

Based on boules, boccia was originally developed for cerebral palsy sufferers, but is now played by people of all abilities and disabilities.

So popular has it become in Pembrokeshire, that there are now two clubs - the Young Voices and Crymych Panthers - plus several 5x60 school clubs and an estimated 30-plus players.

Clr. Evans said he wanted to congratulate the youngsters on their achievements.
