A local mental health charity founded in Pembrokeshire has received a boost from Carmarthenshire based Landsker Business Solutions who have presented the DPJFoundation, with a donation of £5,760.
The DPJ Foundation was set up in July 2016 following the death of Daniel Picton-Jones. It aims to support those in the agricultural sector suffering from poor mental health.
Daniel’s mental health problems went undiagnosed and unseen by many. Daniel was an agricultural contractor, he was part of a sector with one of the highest suicide rates.
His widow Emma decided to set up the foundation to support the mental health of those in the farming sector, for those who feel just as Daniel did, providing them with the support that he didn’t know how to get.
The charity has grown and covers the whole of Wales with all areas of support, working with leading organisations in agriculture including NFU Cymru, FUW, YFC, vets and Welsh Government to help provide an accessible and flexible service.
The money was raised as part of Landsker’s 25th Birthday celebrations through a charity auction and raffle at the black tie event which was held at the Wolfscastle Hotel recently.
Elissa Owen from the DPJ Foundation said: “We are very grateful to Landsker and all the people who bid on auction lots and bought raffle tickets.
“The money will go a long way in helping us to continue to provide much needed mental health support and services to those in the agriculture sector across Wales.”
Landsker Director, David Selwyn said: “It was an honour to be able to present the cheque to the DPJ Foundation, and we at Landsker have been very proud to have DPJ as our charity of the year this year.
“Many of our clients are in the farming and agricultural sectors and it’s great to be able to support a charity which offers much needed help to farmers and agricultural workers in Wales”.
