A local resident has been celebrating with friends and well-wishers in the lead up to her 90th birthday today (February 24).
Mrs. Jane Hall was joined by St Mary Out Liberty county councillor Rhys Jordan and Tenby south ward county councillor Sam Skyrme-Blackhall and around 40 others at the ‘Warm Room’ held at New Hedges Village Hall on Wednesday, with everyone wishing her a big happy birthday.
The New Hedges Warm Rooms is open every Wednesday with food, hot drinks, good company and a warm welcome to anyone who wishes to attend.
Once a month some entertainment is put on, along with a meal, and this week Cllr Skyrme-Blackhall (who is also the Mayor of Tenby) was on hand to provide the entertainment, singing a selection of songs from her repertoire, including a special rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ to Mrs. Hall.
Mrs Hall was also able to chat and reminisce with Tenby’s Mayor, recalling her time in Footlights when a young Sam appeared on stage with her.
Cllr Jordan commented: “It was fantastic to have Sam join us - the group have had bingo and a music quiz previously, but Sam’s performance of oldies really did go down well. Residents have already asked when Sam will return with a choir!
“The New Hedges Warm Space has been hugely popular this winter with numbers growing each week.
“It’s great to see the community old and new coming together once again after the pandemic.
“A huge thanks to Vicky Lee, Howard Rawson-Humphries, and the New Hedges Village Hall Association for organising and supporting the warm room, Angela and team for the delicious food and drink on offer, and most importantly the residents who come week in, week out,” he added.
