This “absolutely iconic” lighthouse for sale is a piece of history nestled among the cliffs.
St Ann’s Head Lighthouse, near Dale, was built in 1844 to guide ships bound for Milford Haven.
The lighthouse was built to replace the former leading lights, which had been in place since 1714 and were in danger due to cliff erosion.
The lighthouse building was used as a lookout by the Coast Guard until 1993, when the operation was moved to Milford Haven.
The property is one of “only a handful” of privately owned lighthouses in the UK, and offers water views from every room.
On the ground floor, the entrance hall leads around to a large living room, a kitchen and a utility room.
To the left of the entrance, there are two bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, while to the right is an additional reception room and two further bedrooms, plus a bathroom.
In the observation tower, there is a ground floor bedroom, a master bedroom on the second floor level, and a crow’s nest, with a lounge area that has panoramic views.
Attached to the main lighthouse is a cottage, which could be used for dual living or as an investment.
In the cottage, there is a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and two bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms.
As well as the cottage and the main lighthouse, there is a recreational wing, with a pool, a sauna and a games room.
In previous years, the property has been used as a holiday let, with “exceptional” success, having 95 per cent occupancy.
The property is for sale by Purplebricks for a guide price of £750,000.
The agent said: “An absolutely iconic building - there is nothing like it in the United Kingdom.
