Bertie the Sea Bass left Amroth on Monday on a five day round trip to Ireland.

With his creator, Gideon Petersen, Bertie travelled to Dublin to represent Wales under the theme of ‘Sustainability and Climate’ at the British Ambassador to Ireland’s annual summer reception at the British Embassy on Wednesday.

This is a significant event for business leaders, ministers, senior government officials and contacts from across the world of Sport, culture and media in Ireland.

Stephen Phillips, Amroth Community Council Chairman, commented: “Bertie’s role is to encourage the reduction of single use plastics and highlight the issue of plastic pollution in the Sea and so is the perfect backdrop for the reception.

“We are proud he has been invited and we look forward to welcoming him home to Amroth at the weekend,”?he added.
