Beach-goers leaving disposable barbecues behind in Saundersfoot are being urged to be responsible and take their litter home with them.

County councillor for the seaside village’s south ward Cllr Chris Williams said: “I have spoken to numerous residents who have raised issues regarding BBQs, as unfortunately these are being left on the beach and can cause inconvenience if they are left unattended as they sometimes retain their heat.

“Please read the signs on BBQs at the beach if you have any concerns.”

There is no law in Wales that you can’t hold a BBQ on the beach, but being responsible is paramount, as fire experts have warned that hundreds of accidental fires are caused by disposable barbecues every year.
