Lucy (34) and Patrick (30) Bellerby have been together nine years; they met when they both were working in Asda in Pembroke Dock.
Patrick proposed to Lucy on the day they got the keys to their first house. Lucy recalls: “I walked into the living room to Bruno Mars’ Marry You. Patrick was on one knee with the ring and our first born Efan, who was one-and-a-half at the time, was holding a huge bouquet of flowers in the middle of a circle of fairly lights. There were red helium balloons all over the living room, and Patrick had written a poem on the living room wall including some of our memories over the years asking me to marry him.”
We asked Lucy and Patrick about their wedding.
Where and when did you get married?
We got married on the June 25, 2022 at the Woodhouse Barn in Rosemarket. There was no theme, just the colour blue.
What wedding music and hymns did you have?
My cousin Peri sang me down the aisle to Bruno Mars Marry You. My sister-in-law Louise read a poem called Here’s to Right Now. We had backing music for when our guests were waiting and the signing of the register; they were songs that meant a lot to our family; they included Frank Sinatra The Way You Look Tonight, Zachary Kibbee Baby Blue, Wheatus A Little Respect, Train Marry Me, and Israel Kamkawiwo’ole Over the Rainbow.
Our leaving song once we were married was Jack Johnson Better Together.
Can you tell us about your rings?
My ring is a white gold band with diamanté and Patrick’s is a plain white gold band.
Who was in the Wedding Party?
Father of the bride Ian Cannon, mother of the bride Estelle Cannon; father of the groom Robert Bellerby, mother of the groom Angela Bellerby; best man Craig Grice (friend), maid of honour Tori Allen (bride’s sister); bridesmaids Louise Bellerby, Ffion Bellerby, Kayleigh Edwards (groom’s sisters), Carrie Dowson, Caitlyn McGrath, Jenna Davey, Maisie Davey (friends); page boys Efan Bellerby, Henry Bellerby (our sons); Ollie Llewelyn (nephew); ushers Alex Swales, Ashley Sutton, Steven Murray, Nick Koomen, George Evans (friends).
How long before the big day did you start planning it?
We started planning in June 2019; we were due to get married June 27, 2020 but due to Covid our wedding was postponed to April 10, 2021 and then postponed once again due to Covid. We finally tied the knot in June 2022.
Did you go to a Wedding Fair for ideas?
Yes, we went to the Ffos Las Wedding Fair and the Pembrokeshire County Wedding Fair in Haverfordwest.
What was your gown like?
We purchased my dress from White Bride in Narberth. The wedding gown was an ivory and blush colour with lace and dotty tulle. I had a flower detailed diamond sash for around the middle of my dress. My veil was a 100 inch long tulle veil with Swarovski crystals. My absolute dream dress.
Who did your hair and make-up?
My Make-up was by the amazing Amber Perry, make-up and nouveau lash technician. My hair was done by the amazing Tammy smith.
Did you have a bouquet?
Foxglove Florist in Neyland did all our bouquets, the groomsmen and page boys buttonholes, the flower arrangements for our top table, and our cake. They were so beautiful.
Did you have any favours?
Yes, we made a donation to two charities close to our hearts. We had pin badges, hearts for the British Heart Foundation for the men, and a blue forget me not flower pin badge for the ladies supporting Alzheimer’s and dementia charity. We also had Ferrero Rochers.
What did the bridesmaids wear?
The bridesmaids wore a long sky blue halter neck dress with a slit up the side, the younger bridesmaids wore a blue long strapped dress all from JJ House. Seamstress for the bridesmaids alterations was Jan Phillips, who was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. She even helped all of us girls into our dresses on the wedding morning.
The groom and groomsmen and page boys all wore navy suits with dickie bow ties hired from Dyfed Menswear in Crosshands. The father of the bride wore a floral blazer and kaki trousers from Harry Hawkes in Cardiff.
Where was the Reception?
Our wedding and the reception was at the beautiful Woodhouse Barn in Rosemarket, the most perfect, chilled back venue! We had 130 guests to the day with a sit down meal. DJ Toby Ellis kept the dance floor filled all night. Nighttime and daytime guests combined, we had a total of 250 for the evening do. Our night time food was Martin’s famous curry.

Etta James’ At Last.
Q: Did you have a photographer?
Our photographer was the amazing Beverly Thomas.
Q: Who made your cake?
Our cake was made by Vicky at Dec’O’Cake. We had a four tier cake with a fruit, chocolate, lemon, and vanilla flavoured tiers, decorated with fresh flowers to match our colour scheme, and our cake topper had four handmade figurines of the groom, bride, and our sons Efan and Henry. It tasted amazing; we had so many lovely comments.
What mode of transport did you have on the big day?
Top class cars supplied our transport. We had the 1929 REO flying cloud “Betty” for the bride and father of the bride arrival, and the starline limo bus for the bridesmaids and mother of the bride.
Where were your Hen and Stag nights?
Patrick had the famous stag do in Dublin Ireland in February 2020 where they then got stranded due to storm Dennis and got stuck in Wexford for an extra two nights. Lucy had her fantastic hen weekend in Bristol.
What was your favourite moment of the big day?
So hard to pick a favourite moment as the day was perfect in every way, but I would say walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Patrick’s face has to be one of my favourite moments.
What would be your top tips for a bride-to-be?
Enjoy every single moment as everyone always says it but it really does go so fast. Try and take a few moments - even half an hour - to go off as husband and wife and take it all in.
