A Pembrokeshire man facing allegations of abusing a baby, has been remanded into custody to appear at Swansea Crown Court on October 24, after breaking the terms of his bail.

Christopher Phillips, aged 33 from Burton, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on the morning of Thursday, January 30 after breaching his court bail.

The defendant had appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday, January 24, to face charges including allegations of sexual penetration of a seven-week-old baby; assault; ill-treatment, neglect; and abandonment, resulting in serious physical harm.

He was also charged with actual bodily harm and four counts of grievous bodily harm with intent.

The case was adjourned, with a plea and direction hearing scheduled for October 25; before a trial which is scheduled to take place on November 17.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers attended protests that occurred outside a property in Burton this week.

A spokesperson said: “Police were called at 7pm on Tuesday, January 28 to a report of a gathering of people protesting outside a property in Burton.

“A second gathering was reported on Wednesday, January 29, in the same area. One man, aged 47, was arrested on suspicion of affray.

“Another man, aged 58, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass. They have both been released on bail with conditions pending further investigations.

“Body worn footage from officers who attended both incidents is being reviewed and anyone found to commit an offence will face further police action.

“We will always seek to facilitate peaceful protest while balancing it with the rights of others, keeping the public safe, and preventing crime and disorder - and we encourage anyone organising a protest to contact us so we can work together to ensure any demonstrations are done safely and with respect for the wider community,” added the spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police.
