Local police officers were tasked to assist the British Transport Police at Tenby train station on Saturday night, as Operation Lion continues to be enforced in the resort over the summer.

Dyfed Powys Police chief inspector Mark McSweeney said: “Police were called to assist British Transport Police officers who had detained several people for minor public order offences at 8 pm on Saturday, August 12.

“Local officers are working closely with British Transport Police as well as Arriva Trains Wales over the summer weekends as part of Operation Lion, which is running successfully.

“Thousands of people are visiting Tenby every weekend, and by targeting trains we are stopping people from arriving in the town if their behaviour is unacceptable,” he added.A spokesperson for the British Transport Police confirmed that officers were called to Tenby railway station at around 7.55pm on Saturday following reports of a disturbance.“Two 31-year-old men and a 39-year-old man from Swansea were arrested on suspicion of drunk and disorderly behaviour. They were given penalty notice for disorders,” they added.
