The Ambulance team at Pembroke Dock had a nice surprise when they received a bundle of gifts after a local pub organised a fundraising drive.

The gifts, which include recliner chairs as well as smaller items, were presented on Tuesday by Nicola Jones, landlady of the Prince of Wales pub, together with her sister Amanda Worrell and her friend and fellow organiser Kaleigh Kitts.

Receiving the gifts were Ambulance men Matthew Jones and Dave Farrow who, together with another crew member who has since moved away from the area, helped saved Amanda’s life last May when she had a cardiac arrest.

Dave said: “Matthew Jones and I were invited to meet Amanda on Tuesday and it was great to see her doing well. Unbeknown to us, Amanda and the family had started fundraising for Pembroke Dock Ambulance Station. We are unbelievably grateful for the gifts they have donated.”

Matthew added: “I can still remember the call and the fact it took four shocks to get her back, so it was great to see Amanda walking around like nothing had happened. It has been so nice to catch up with her a second time and we are so thankful for her and the family’s generosity.”

After being joined by Ambulance staff at a surprise birthday party for Amanda in June, Nicola, Darren and the team at the Prince of Wales had started planning fundraising events so they could give something back to the service and equip the pub with a defibrillator, which is now on order.
