The ‘heartbroken’ team at a Pembrokeshire pub has thanked family, friends and customers for messages of support following a fire that damaged the premises.

At 11.38am on, Wednesday, November 6, crews from Haverfordwest and Milford Haven Fire Stations were called to a commercial fire in The Bristol Trader, Quay Street, Haverfordwest.

The fire was located on the ground floor of the two-storey building, spread to the first floor and roof space. Crews utilised eight breathing apparatus sets, four hose reel jets, one 45mm main jet, small gear and a turntable ladder. They left the scene at 13.58pm.

All staff were confirmed safe following the incident.

“Thank you very much for your support,” they posted on Facebook.

“As you can all imagine we as a team are absolutely heartbroken. We are working hard behind the scenes to try and make this situation better and get The Trader back up and running so keep your eyes peeled for future updates.”

In a display of Pembrokeshire community spirit, Team Trader are being temporarily relocated to The Castle Hotel Restaurant from Monday, November 18 whilst repairs are being made to The Bristol Trader. The phone line is being redirected. Anyone who has a booking and has not been in touch since November 6 is asked to call the team on 01437 762122.

The Bristol Trader blaze wasn’t the only one local firefighters had to tackle over the Bonfire Night period.

At 11.14pm on Tuesday, November 5, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock Fire Crews responded to a shipping container that was well alight in Ferry Lane, Pembroke Dock. The fire also involved approximately 100 tyres. Crews continued to dampen down remaining hotspots and left the scene at 5.07am the following morning.
