Anti-social behaviour occurring in Kilgetty has seen a dog walker have a lucky escape, after they were nearly hit by a piece of concrete thrown over the hedge of a community garden, where trees planted in memory of loved ones have also been damaged.
The incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, September 20, around 6.30 pm.
CCTV has picked up four youths entering the village’s community gardens and at around 6.40 pm a dog walker was nearly hit by a piece of concrete that was thrown over the hedge of the quiet garden by a group of boys who then also threw cans and bottles over but left when they hear her scream.
“The CCTV footage has been handed to the Police and the boys may well be getting a visit soon,” said Jerry Long, Chair of the Begelly Kilgetty Community Assocation
“This is the latest in acts of vandalism over the last 12 months, with trees and plants being broken or pulled up etc and the information sign in the main garden damaged.
“Most of the trees and plants that have been damaged were planted in memory of loved ones and it is such a shame when you see them being damaged.
“The police have asked that if you see any anti- social behaviour that you report in by calling 101 as the more these events get reported our area will get more police coverage and perhaps help from the youth services in the area,” he added.
Back in the summer, at a meeting of Kilgetty/Begelly Community Council, county councillor for the ward Cllr Alistair Cameron said that he and Cllr Paul Wyatt attended a multi-agency meeting with the police and other agencies to discuss the continuing problems at a number of locations in Kilgetty, including at the Railway Station, Miner’s Field, underpass and near the Community Centre.
Councillors said that ‘enhanced police patrols’ would continue in Kilgetty.
