A new tractor arrived last week as a part of Tenby Sailing Club’s policy to keep equipment updated.
The tractor is an essential piece of kit for launching and recovery of the five safety boats, and assisting with dinghies when the tide is out.
Dinghy Racing: Tenby’s only competitor in the Tata Steel Regatta on October 28/29 was Carwyn Owen. He was crewing for Paul Bambridge of Tata SC, in Osprey 1225, finishing 6th out of 13 in the fast handicap fleet, after five races . The winner was Blaze 868 sailed by Christian Smart of Pembrokeshire Yacht Club, impressively winning four races. 2nd was Oscar Chess,(TataSC) Osprey 1348, and 3rd was Alan Watkins (Pembrokeshire YC) in Blaze 815.
Cruiser Racing: At a meeting last Saturday, Cruiser Members discussed prospects for 2024 and with the loss of two yachts from the fleet, it would be good to lobby the Authorities to keep vacated moorings exclusively for new incoming yachts, without them having to wait for years to obtain a mooring.
Clubhouse: Also last Saturday, the Commodore’s Quiz was well attended, with proceeds going to the RNLI. “Team Twp” took first place , closely followed by “High Tide” in second. The next quiz will be on January 6, since the festive season already includes the Annual Prize giving Dinner on November 24, general meeting on the 25th, and Members’ Christmas Party on December 1.
