Saundersfoot CP School’s netball team have secured a coveted spot in the quarter finals of the Urdd National Primary School Netball Championship, showcasing their formidable skills and unwavering teamwork on the court.
In hot and tough conditions in Aberystwyth on Sunday, May 12 - after a series of exhilarating group matches, which saw victories against Nantgaredig and Penybryn Tywyn and a narrow 4-3 defeat to group winners Ysgol y Castell - Saundersfoot emerged as group runners up.
“We are incredibly proud of our netball team for their outstanding performance in the national competition," said headteacher Mr. Nick Allen
“Their hard work, dedication, and team spirt has truly paid off, and we couldn't be more thrilled to see them advance to the quarter finals.
“Especially as I, or staff don’t count ourselves as netball coaches. I was grateful to have past pupil and Wales Academy U17 player, Mali Green alongside me on court advising me on the technical aspects!”
This is the second year in a row the team has reached a national quarter final, with the girls losing on penalties in the football last year.
“Their success thus far is a testament to their talent, hard work, and unwavering dedication to the sport of netball,” continued Mr Allen.
“The entire community stands behind them, cheering them on every step of the way as they strive for greatness.”
