Congratulations to Tenby United - the first team to get their hands on the Pembrokeshire and District Rugby Union Plate after defeating Pembroke RFC in the midweek tie.

The Seasiders travelled to Bierspool and the ground of the Pembroke Dock Quins on Wednesday evening, and were good value for victory in this first-ever competition, which was organised for teams knocked out in the first round of the Knockout Cup.

Before the break, Tenby had amassed a lead of 22 points without reply, against a Pembroke side that were up against it from the outset.

No 10 Lloyd Thomas opened the scoring for the Seasiders as he went under the posts, before converting his own try.

The Seasiders doubled their lead with winger Matthew Morgan crossing in the corner, and Thomas converting from wide out.

Flanker Dan Colley then scored an unconverted try, and despite Thomas missing the conversion, he hit the nail on the head with a penalty conversion before half time.

A somewhat scrappy second half saw the Seasiders take their feet off the pedal somewhat, but managed two more penalties from Thomas to extend their lead.

Scarlets skipper Scott Powell then came off the bench and ploughed over for an unconverted try, much to the delight of the local support.

With the final score 28-5 to Tenby, the Seasiders’ captain Luke Dedman and his teammates lifted the new Plate trophy, with Lloyd Thomas picking up the man of the man of the match award.

Tenby’s last league game of the season takes place tomorrow (Saturday) as the Seasiders travel to Nantgaredig for a 2.30 pm kick-off.
