A round-up of news from Pembroke RFC...
The First XV entertained high flying Gowerton (fourth in League) last Saturday in good weather on an excellent surface.
The match was sponsored by the Former Players Association, whose members enjoyed an excellent day.
The first twenty five minutes saw an intense scoreless competition. But defensive failings by the home side disappointingly handed the visitors a 7-28 lead at the break.
Buoyed by their ability to move the ball wide quickly, the visitors continued to pierce a fragile defence to score more tries, whilst the home side did display resilience and very good spells of sustained attack that brought them just reward. However, the visitors proved too efficient and ended very worthy winners to sustain their efforts to challenge for promotion.
The First XV have two away League fixtures to complete their season against N. Emlyn and Hendy.
The Panthers home match against Tondu was cancelled as Tondu failed to raise a side. St. Davids newly formed womens squad then agreed to travel down to hold a training match, which turned out to be a very exciting affair, with the home team emerging as 58-48 winners after a thoroughly entertaining match.
