A charity rugby match in memory of Otters supporter Huw Howells has seen two worthy causes given a boost of over £8,000 each.

On Friday, June 21, The Howells Family presented cheques to two important charities – The Welsh Air Ambulance Service and Sandy Bear Bereavement Charity.

Thanks to a fundraising rugby match held at the home of Narberth RFC in memory of Huw on Easter Sunday, both charities received a fantastic £8,100 each.

After losing Huw tragically in an accident in 2020, the family’s wish was to arrange a memorial match at the Lewis Lloyd Ground.

Huw was a very proud Welshman and Otter. He was a fearless and powerful loose-head prop and absolutely loved his time playing at Narberth.

He was a special friend to so many which was evident on the day of the match.

The squad consisted of 70 players past and present and it was a true spectacle of a match refereed by Colin Phillips.

Cathy, Julia, Rosie and families wish to thank the entire community for their incredible support for this special day.

A special thanks goes to Bill Ridge for organising the event. It was certainly a memorable day celebrating the ‘Top Man’ that was Huw Howells.
