Today marks a significant milestone for inclusive cycling in Wales as Wheel Together has officially become the country’s first Limitless Focus Club, supported by British Cycling and Beicio Cymru.
This achievement is part of the Limitless programme, which is designed to make cycling accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities.
Through the Limitless Focus Club grant, Wheel Together will be able to provide adaptive cycling opportunities to riders of all abilities, ensuring that everyone can experience the joys of cycling.
The club, which is now based at the picturesque Aberystwyth Harbour, will receive an ICE Trike, a specially designed adaptive trike, to add to its fleet. This will allow even more people to safely enjoy cycling, whether experienced or new to adaptive cycling.
Andrew Rendell from Wheel Together expressed the club’s excitement: “Wheel Together is delighted to receive such support and encouragement from British Cycling and Beicio Cymru. Becoming the first Limitless Focus Club in Wales is a real honour. It is wonderful that the hours of volunteering by our club members, leaders, and buddies supporting adaptive cyclists in all weathers have been given such recognition and praise. Thank you for your trust in our group, and with your continued support, we will be proud to reach and encourage even more people to benefit from cycling. More people enjoying the outdoors, seeing our beautiful Welsh towns and countryside, meeting old friends and making new friends, and generally whizzing about having fun.”
Robbie George, from Beicio Cymru, shared his enthusiasm for this significant step: “We are incredibly proud to see Wheel Together become Wales’ first Limitless Focus Club. This partnership with British Cycling is helping to break down barriers in cycling, and it’s inspiring to witness the hard work of clubs like Wheel Together being recognised and supported. We hope other clubs in Wales feel inspired by this fantastic achievement. If any club is considering making cycling more inclusive, I’d encourage them to reach out for a chat – we’d love to help.”
With the launch of Wheel Together as a Limitless Focus Club, Beicio Cymru and British Cycling hope to see more clubs across Wales join the movement toward inclusivity.
