JOP Easter Cup
With a mixed forecast predicted for the annual JOP Easter Cup, tactics on when to play become the main topic of conversation as a strong field took to the course in beautiful spring sunshine. Saturday on the other hand saw the arrival of Storm Katie and a cancellation of play, restricting rounds played to just three days. Those competitors in the best two round of four format who managed to play early Sunday had the calmest part of the days play with some strong scores being returned. As with Friday, Monday saw the best of the weather with many of the top 10 playing on these days having studied the forecast religiously. On to the results and this year’s JOP ladies champion was Ann Dassen with a total of 45 points. Rosie Moore coming a close second with 43 points. Adam Thorne was crowned JOP gents champion after a close battle with Meurig Evans. Adam eventually triumphing with a combined score of 71 to Meurig’s 70. A credible third place was taken by Matthew McMann also with 70 points, but just losing out on count back. As always, the club would like to thank Jenkins of Pembrokeshire for their sponsorship of this popular event which has been running for nearly 20 years.
