Trefloyne Golf Club held a charity golf day recently in memory of Steve Derrick who was a member of the club for many years.
On what was a gloriously sunny day (Saturday, May 27), forty-one gentlemen and twelve ladies played eighteen holes for the Steve Derrick trophies.
The trophies were awarded on the day to the ladies’ winner, Mary Price and the men’s winner, Neil Ralph.
A raffle took place, afforded by very generous prizes donated by the golfers, local businesses, and family and friends and many winners of the draw received their prizes as they relaxed at, undoubtedly, the easiest hole of the game - the nineteenth hole.
It was a memorable, enjoyable day in beautiful surroundings and glasses were raised in a toast to the £400 raised for Pembrokeshire Cancer Support, and those whose memories this donation honours.
Pembrokeshire Cancer Support is a very local source of help, who desperately need funds to support the community.
Wendy, Steve’s wife, would like to pay forward the help that Macmillan nurses and Maggie’s and many others gave them during the most difficult time, and to this end a cheque for £400 was presented to Pembrokeshire Cancer Support by Wendy Derrick and some of the members who supported the day.
Pembrokeshire Cancer Support was represented by Mr Lyn Neville, Charity Coordinator and Mr Ian Jones, Charity Trustee.
Huge thanks also to everyone who contributed on the day and to Joan and Kim for being, as ever, excellent hosts.
