Gemma Amos and Katie Thomas played exceptionally well during their recent visit to Scotland for the Junior International series. Well done!

At the ladies AGM last Thursday, the following were elected: chairlady - Mrs. Sue Roden; secretary - Mrs. Kath Blayney; treasurer - Mrs. Christine Harries; selectors -Mrs. Sue Roden, Mrs. Kath Blayney, Mrs. Collette Bethwaite, Mrs. Cynthia Evans.

Sue thanked our retiring treasurer, Mrs. Audrey Williams, for all the hard work she had done during her term of office.

On Sunday, a fun afternoon was held at Heatherton, with ladies v gentlemen, to raise funds towards our future WLIBA president, Mrs. Kath Blayney’s expenses. With excellent bowling all round, the ladies were victorious with an overall win against the gents.

Following the game, the players enjoyed refreshments provided by the ladies of the club and a raffle with prizes donated by both gents and ladies. Many thanks to Mair and Hugh Davies for waiving the rink fees and for enabling the game to take place.

Yesterday (Thursday), Liam Price and co played in the first round of the Welsh open rinks at Heatherton and tonight (Friday), Neil Hensman and co, John Roberts and co and Steve Reese and co play at Llanelli.

COMING UP!

The second round of the open triples competition takes place on Sunday. All rinks will be in use at Heatherton. Of our two teams, John Roberts and co play at Cynon Valley and Alan Whitehouse and co play at Dinefwr.

Also on Sunday, our ladies travel to Cardiff for their next D. J. Trophy game. We wish all our bowlers every success in their respective games.

Please note: Heatherton Indoor Bowls Club AGM takes place on Wednesday, March 16, 7 for 7.30pm. As our current secretary will be resigning from his position, it will be necessary to appoint a new secretary, so please make every effort to attend.
