Thank you, Rob for support for Christians. It was most encouraging to read the item by Rob James on this issue. (A Good Word: Why do Christians feel marginalised now, Tenby Observer, 12 May) There were helpful reflections & reminders about the Christian faith and what it really means.
The best way to sum this up, for me, is in the words of my old school prayer from the Common prayer book. “Go forth into the world in peace. Be of good courage. Hold fast that which is good. Strengthen the fainthearted.
Support the weak. Help the afflicted.
Honour all people... love and serve the Lord.
Rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit”.
These words, I feel, are an excellent code for living? Existing alongside all people , respecting other faiths.
Most importantly, not judging — Jesus Himself said “Judge not” — very liberating words
Accepting others just as they are ,is a key approach. The issues of gender and related matters are, I believe, entirely a personal issue of privacy. Consideration and understanding is a pivotal approach in following Jesus. Loving others as He loves us. Giving of ourselves, “without measure.”
But most of all, not being judgemental of others who have deeply personal struggles and need acceptance and understanding.
