Improvements are to be carried out to Saundersfoot harbour’s car park over the next few weeks, with the facility undergoing resurfacing work from Monday, March 6 onwards, throughout the month into April.
During this time parking on the Harbour will still be available, but spaces will be limited, so please plan ahead. Normal ticket prices still apply, with alternative parking available at the Regency Hall and Coppet Hall parking facilities.
“The resurfacing work of the car park is funded by the Welsh Government, and will significantly improve car park management and flow as well as pedestrian safety,” said a spokesperson for Saundersfoot Harbour.
“The new car park layout will reduce blind spots, increase pedestrian pathways, and will include the provision of EV charging stations, increased car bay sizes, and additional disabled parking bays.
“The promenade will benefit from new planters, and direct pedestrian and wheelchair access from the car park and Ocean Square, improving accessibility. The current benches will remain and be maintained, although these may be repositioned slightly.”
The new car park layout is scheduled to be completed at the end of April.
County Councillor for Saundersfoot’s South ward, Cllr Chris Williams said he had recently met with the Chief Executive of Saundersfoot Harbour Michael Davies on the matter.
“We talked about the approval from Welsh Government for works to be carried out that will significantly improve parking management as well as pedestrian pathways and safety,” said Cllr Williams.
“This will result in an increase of the parking bay size as well as fitting EV charging stations with some EV stations available for disabled users.
“The works will improve safety for pedestrians walking, along with vastly improved disabled access around the harbour.
“It is disappointing that we will be losing roughly 10 spaces but this will significantly improve the resident and visitor experience, while improving visibility and safety which is their upmost priority,” he added.
