The community of St. Clears has been mourning the death of a 23-year-old woman tragically killed in a road accident on Friday.

The accident occurred at around 11 pm when two vehicles were involved in a collision on the A40 between St. Clears and Whitland.

The driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles sustained serious injuries which proved to be fatal.

She was later named by police as Laura Mary Anne Rees from St. Clears.

"Her family have asked that they are given time to grieve in private and their privacy respected," said a police spokeswoman.

Four occupants, including two children, from the second vehicle were conveyed to West Wales General Hospital, but police said their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Any witnesses to the accident are asked to contact Carmarthenshire Roads Policing Unit on 101.
