The solar project at Llanlliwe has offered some funds for Whitland. The money is specifically to be allocated for renewable energy or carbon reduction projects. The town council invite the community to propose any idea or ideas that will result in a carbon reduction for the town. Some initial thoughts are listed below, but councillors welcome yours by the end of May. Please send them to the Town Clerk at 41 Maes Abaty, Whitland, SA34 0HQ, or [email protected]">[email protected]: Cycle/walking path infrastructure improvements; contribution towards the re-siting of the school bus park on land adjacent to Whitland Engineering in order to reduce North Road traffic, provide weekend parking for the cattle/machinery markets and enhance the economic benefit of the mart footfall to the town; solar panels for various suitable buildings; modest community wind turbine; modest community water power turbine; Cardi Bach walking/cycle route to link to rural areas to the town; pump track contribution; tree/hedge planting; community gardening; marketing and enhancing the train travel and cycling; encourage fishing for locally sourced food; enhancing natural play facilities closer to homes.
