Whitland Town Council have requested further information from the local authority before considering having to close a local play park.
Discussing the matter of considering the safety resurfacing of the Bryngwenllian play park at the Town Council’s recent meeting, following the disappointing news that the Section 106 application was unsuccessful and no further information had been forthcoming from Carmarthenshire County Council (despite several emails being sent requesting a meeting), members felt the decision had to be made whether to temporary close the park or find the additional funds within the unspent budgeted monies.
£7,000 had been accrued over the past two years, with the cost of repairs estimated to be around £19,500.
Following a lengthy discussion, it was agreed that further information be sought from Carmarthenshire County Council regarding the legal implications should the park be closed and play equipment removed.
If required, an extraordinary meeting can also be held to discuss the response.
