Sir,

As treasurer for the white poppy appeal, I wish to thank all those who donated for their poppies either at the stall at Narberth car park or following the annual 'service of remembrance for all victims of war' at the Celtic Cross.

The total amount raised was exactly £105. As arranged, half of this amount will now go to the Red Cross to help their work with the countless civilian casualties of war. The other half will be sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, for the welfare of members of the armed forces who have suffered severe injuries.

White poppies are a symbol of commitment to working for peace and looking towards the time when war shall be no more. Individually we all have a part to play.

Ludchurch.
