As part of National Customer Service Week, the Begelly Arms was the venue for an event that saw volunteers of Wales Air Ambulance meet with patients who have been airlifted by the helicopter and are now fully recovered.

Organised by Hilary Harvey, the Air Ambulance fund-raising co-ordinator for Pembrokeshire and West Wales, the 'customers' were on hand to tell their own personal stories to new volunteers. Aim was to help mutual understanding of the professional service that daily saves countless lives, as well as the hard work of the volunteers who raise funds to keep the service flying.

The event also gave a chance to a number of fund- raisers who have recently raised money for the Wales Air Ambulance cause to present their generous donations to the service in person.

First to present a donation was Audrey Phillips, a committee member of the annual Croesgoch Vintage Tractor Charity Run, which last summer raised a whopping £8,150.

Audrey chose Wales Air Ambulance as the charity to receive the funds this year following an accident 12 months ago when she fell from her horse and was airlifted by helicopter to Withybush Hospital.

The next presentation was from members of Marloes community, who staged a 26-mile sponsored walk to St. Davids. They donated half the money raised to Wales Air Ambulance, with the other half going to another charity.

Also on hand to present a donation was Joan Thomas, of Begelly, who very kindly gave £425 to Wales Air Ambulance in lieu of presents from her 75th birthday.
