With WRU contracts a thing of the past, Tenby United welcome the support offered by Heatherton Country Sports Park backing their idea of offering personal contracts.

The car seen here is being handed over to Scott Payne, the initial benefactor of the proactive initiative, by Andrew McDonald and Charlie Davies, of Heatherton, with Chris Williams making-up the foursome.

With the annual contribution from the WRU being greatly reduced this year, the Tenby club sought alternative methods of remuneration for key players and the sponsored car initiative was seen as a step in the right direction.

Scott joined the Tenby club last year from rivals Pembroke and very quickly became established as a regular first team member, attracting interest from other local clubs during a season where he week on week delivered what is necessary in the mysterious world of the front row.

Team manager Chris Williams sees this type of incentive, linked to a three-year personal contract, as essential if the Tenby club is to attract and/or retain quality players, and is busy attempting to unearth new sponsors linked to the player-car initiative.
