Very flexible wildlife experiences are on offer for the February half-term with an innovative activities programme from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority. In addition to its ever popular Activities and Events items, the Park has launched a 'flexible programme' based on Broad Haven Youth Hostel and the surrounding coastal area. From tomorrow (Saturday) to Saturday, February 25, daily events will be staged at which anyone of any age can just turn up and give it a go. And it's all free of charge - though donations are welcome to cover costs of materials. David Matthews, the Park's field education officer, said a wide choice of both indoor and outdoor activities had been thought up. "We have aimed it at family audiences, exploring the theme of West Wales Wildlife Experiences, and it's an exciting addition to our all-year programme of activities and events," added David. "For example, people of any age can try their hand at birdbox making, and take the finished article home with them. There will also be seashore scavenges, parachute games and crafts sessions, led by Park rangers and leaders, and birdwatching walks. If the weather is against us, the programme can be extra flexible." Events will be rolled out daily from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm. Full details are available in a special bilingual leaflet within the Activities and Events colour programme which is now available at information centres and many outlets in the area or on the National Park website http://www.pembrokeshirecoast.org.uk">www.pembrokeshirecoast.org.uk The main programme begins with a bookable walk through the Castlemartin Army Range on Sunday, February 19, and finishes appropriately on St. David's Day with a walk around Britain's smallest city, St. Davids. Walks in the Preseli Hills and Gwaun Valley and around Bosherston Pools, plus two mini bus tours, are among the items. Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort, which is run by the Park Authority, will be open from Monday to Friday, February 20 to 24, for regular guided tours and activities for children.
