Sophie Battisson and Tiffany Roach, of South Pembrokeshire Pony Club, attended the first of the triathlons in Carmarthen on Sunday, January 9.
They both had reasonable shoots, good swims and their runs were very good, taking into consideration the weather conditions. It was a lovely day, but the rugby field where they ran was frozen solid. All in all, for their first triathlon of the year, they both did very well.
Out of 22 competitors in their class, Sophie was placed 10th and Tiffany 11th.
They both decided that because they train very hard with their shooting, swimming and running, they would like to compete further afield and so decided they would also do the triathlons at Chepstow.
They went to Chepstow last Sunday and both Sophie and Tiffany really excelled themselves, with Sophie having an excellent shoot of 840 and Tiffany of 820. The highest shoot was 940, so they weren't far behind.
They both had really good swims, as usual, and very good runs. The running course in Chepstow was hard going, very hilly, and where Sophie got her energy from for the last 500 metres remains a mystery, but she produced a superb sprint, which gave a tremendous boost to her score.
Out of 30 competitors in their class, Tiffany was placed eighth and Sophie fourth.
The weather in Chepstow was also lovely and to top it all, Sophie and Tiffany were put into a team with a pony club member from Vale of Clettwr, Danielle Jones, which was nice as they are all in Area 18, and took home the Area 10 winning team rosette.
