The newly formed Lower Landsker Trefoil Guild met at the Tenby Scout and Guide Hall when members discussed the possibility of visiting the Welsh Guide Centre at Broneirion on July 10, when a Friends Day will be held.
Members also offered help at a coffee morning to be held to raise funds to help Senior Section member, Annie Jeremias participate in a Girlguiding Cymru trip to Sangam, the international Guide Centre at Pune, in India. It was also decided to make a list of members willing to help local units at short notice should the need arise.
After the business meeting, members were taken down memory lane courtesy of some wonderful old films taken in the '60s and '70s by the late Fred Brenchley. They included footage of the Brownies' 50th birthday county revels held at Greenhill School field, which caused much hilarity as some very youthful members were recognised. It was equally fascinating to see the light traffic, and the crowded beaches and busy High Street - very different from today!
Grateful thanks must go to Ros Williams who has preserved and re-recorded these films, and very generously shared them with various local people.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 1, when we will meet at Castle Square at 10.30 am for a visit to the Museum, followed by coffee in town. New members always welcome. You don't have to have been a Guide or Brownie, just have an interest in helping the local units and having some fun along the way!
