Friday, March 25, sees the Grand Opening of The Plum Tree at the newly refurbished tea room which is located at the well known family run business of Tavernspite Garden Centre.
The Plum Tree is being run by a third generation family member of the Garden Centre, Paul and Janice’s middle son, Matthew Webb, a chef by trade.
Matthew has a NVQ 2 in professional cookery under his belt and also trained at St. Brides Spa Hotel, Saundersfoot.
Working through the ranks over four-and-a-half-years, starting as a commis chef, he worked his way up to the position of chef de parti by the time he left to learn the family business.
Matthew has been overseeing the whole refurbishment of the tearoom, which was first opened by his grandmother Ivy Webb 35 years ago in 1981.
The Plum Tree has created a menu to suit all times of the day, from breakfasts which will be served from 9 to 11 am, main meals, light bites, mouthwatering cakes, delicious desserts and afternoon teas.
All food will be homemade by Matthew, with gluten free options, vegetarian meals and children’s menu, while Sunday lunches are coming soon too!
You can also book The Plum Tree for small functions and if you speak to Matthew he will be more than happy to discuss your needs.
The Plum Tree will be open seven days a week, from 9 am to 5 pm, so why not pop in and see what’s on offer.
There are plenty of car parking spaces, so why not spend a few hours with the Webb family browsing around the Garden Centre and Shop - it’s a real family run business and they are always happy to see visitors, and you can be assured of a warm welcome.
All areas of the Garden Centre are wheelchair friendly.
Matthew will also be looking to build a team to help him in the kitchen.
Keep an eye on their Facebook page and website for pictures of the development and examples of the tasty treats they will have on offer for you.
For bookings, please call 01834 831863.
They’ll be looking forward to seeing you soon!
