CABARET and recording singing star Tony Jacobs, together with the Jim Barry Rhythm Kings, present their new show 'The Gershwin Years' at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, on Tuesday, April 15.

This highly acclaimed show celebrates the music and songs of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Fats Waller and many others, plus tributes to great singers such as Crosby, Astaire and Sinatra, who all contributed so much to our listening pleasure during their lifetime. All of this, together with a great deal of humour, makes for an evening of superb entertainment.

For 10 years Tony Jacobs toured with the internationally famous Syd Lawrence Orchestra and is now touring major venues with his critically acclaimed shows 'The Sinatra Years', 'Songs for Swinging Lovers' and 'The Gershwin Years'. Tony has made countless TV appearances and radio broadcasts in the UK and abroad, including guest appearances on Radio 2's 'Friday Night is Music Night' with the BBC Concert Orchestra. He has broadcast with the BBC Radio Big Band, guested with the Pasedena Roof Orchestra and appeared on a television special with the late Roy Castle. For five years Tony fronted the dance band at London's world famous Waldorf Hotel.

Musical director Jim Barry is one of the most versatile and accomplished pianists around today and is equally at home with jazz as well as classical and light music. He has made innumerable broadcasts with the BBC Radio Orchestra and is a resident pianist at London's Savoy Hotel as well as regularly accompanying many of the star names in entertainment.

The line-up also includes two of this country's most sought-after musicians. Andre Messeder on double-bass from the internationally famous Syd Lawrence Orchestra has also accompanied many famous stars on worldwide tours. On drums from the BBC Big Band and also the Syd Lawrence Orchestra plus many tours accompanying the stars is the exciting Tommy Gordon.

The show coincides with the release of the highly acclaimed new album for Tony Jacobs and Jim Barry 'Moonlight Becomes You', with sleeve notes by broadcaster, actor, composer and writer Hubert Gregg, plus complementary notes by Radio 2's David Jacobs.
