Tenby’s Adam Hughes has received a major boost for his fundraising challenge to mark the 10th year anniversary of his life saving kidney transplant - thanks to generous donations from the Tenby Rotary Club and Tenby and District Lions.
Following the successful fundraising exploits of both clubs over the last 12 months, they have been able to donate £250 each to Adam’s Fundraising Challenge, which is gearing towards the Newport Marathon on Sunday, April 13 and the London Marathon two weeks later.
The two clubs have also pledged to support Adam, and his chosen charities further in 2025 through their summer extravaganza concert at The De Valence Pavilion in August starring top tribute acts ‘Re-Take That’ and ‘Shania Twain’. Full details of this exciting event will be released shortly.
10 years on from his life-saving kidney transplant, Adam is using the milestone to fundraise for Kidney Wales and The Wales Transplant Football Team and has remained determined to complete the challenges and support the charities despite being faced with multiple health problems with his transplanted kidney over the last year and is both delighted and very grateful to have raised just over £2,000 towards his £5,000 target so far.
The latest in his series of physical challenges including - taking on the Welsh Three Peaks and Ben Nevis, Adam continued his epic fundraising challenge in January by completing the Houston Marathon in Texas, USA, in a time of 3 hours 42 minutes.
Adam has paid all his own expenses, and every penny pledged in sponsorship will go directly to the charities.
“The support I’ve received from so many people has been overwhelming, not only through donations but through messages of encouragement,” Adam said recently.
