Tenby’s Rebecca Whitehurst and her daughter Lily are embarking on a fundraising adventure across the Pembrokeshire Coast in August to raise money for Cure Parkinson’s.

They are going to be hiking all 186 miles of the Coast, starting on Saturday, August 11 and finishing on August 27, with support from their wonderful friends and family.

The Whitehursts have been raising money for Parkinson’s charities for several years with previous endeavours including a skydive, several half marathons and the ‘song a day in May’ which Rebecca and her husband Duncan did in 2021.

Rebecca’s dad, John Williams, had Parkinson’s for many years and her husband Duncan who is a town councillor in Tenby was diagnosed with the disease in 2010 so it is a cause very close to the family’s heart.

This challenge will push them both physically and mentally more than anything they have ever done before, but they know their struggles are nothing compared to what Duncan has to endure every day.

They've been doing a lot of training, all documented on their social media, and are feeling both excited and apprehensive about the challenge that awaits them.

This time, they’ll be raising money for Cure Parkinson's. Cure Parkinson's are here for the cure. They are working with urgency to find new treatments to slow, stop and reverse Parkinson’s.

Their funding and innovation has redefined the field of Parkinson’s research, enabling the world’s leading researchers to prioritise the next generation of drugs for clinical trial.

Day one of the challenge will see the duo start from St Dogmaels and head to Ceibwr Bay. The final day will see a trek from Skrinkle Haven to Amroth where a party on the beach will be held.

They aim to raise a target of £5,000 towards the cause.

They would be grateful for any support you can provide and would love to see many of you joining them on their coastal path adventure - the planned hiking route is detailed on their social media pages.
