Tenby UNDER 10s 1 Goytre UNDER 10s 1 On a sunny but chilly morning, the Londis at Manorbier Stores and Post Office sponsored Tenby team entertained the visitors from Goytre in a friendly which proved to be a credit to all players involved on a well-prepared pitch. Although a couple of players were absent on 'county' duty, Tenby, with their large squad, were still able to field a strong side who rose to the occasion admirably against a powerful Goytre team. It was action from the outset and both sides vied for possession, showing good skills and commitment to their task. Tenby went behind in the first half with a thundering shot from Goytre which meant Scott picking the ball out of his own net for the first time for a while! But the boys rallied, and in the second half David knocked home a goal after a great shot from Daniel had been fumbled in the goalmouth. With the goals being peppered at both ends, the game could have gone either way and it was a superb save late on in the match by the outstanding Goytre goalie that denied Tenby victory. It was an entertaining match played by both sides in a professional manner - obviously an Easter diet of chocolate and late nights didn't affect performances too much! Thanks to coach Simon for his touchline guidance, to referee Neil who had a good match (yes a whistle and a watch), our sponsors and the ladies who prepared the after-match hot-dogs. Thanks, too, to Goytre for travelling down for this friendly and being worthy opponents. No doubt we will meet again in upcoming tournaments! Squad: Scott Cowan, Corey Morris, Toby Rossiter, Sam Butler, Rhys Nicholas, Hugo Wellum, Daniel Fairlie, Tom Koop, David Webb, Tom Grover, Adam Conbeer, D'Arcy Escott, Cheyne Lloyd. GIRLS FOOTBALL
UNDER 12s
The Tenby Park Road Garage sponsored Under 12s played their last two games of the league. Against Neyland, the Jays won 1-0, with Nia Thomas scoring the goal. Rhiannan Harley kept another clean sheet in goal. Gracie Bevan and Sarah Patteson shared the defensive duties, while Ellen Thomas and Sophie Izzard held the midfield. Nia Thomas ran well up front. Their second match against Clarbeston Road was a different matter. They lost 5-0 when the Clarbie players were allowed to run through unchallenged. The scare would have been greater if it hadn't been for Ellen Thomas who bravely stopped many goal-bound shots. Tenby Jays finished up as well-deserved runners-up to Clarbeston Road in the league. Jays: Sophie Izzard, Gracie Bevan, Ellen Thomas, Nia Thomas, Rhiannan Harley, Sarah Patteson.
UNDER 14s
Tenby Under 14s A went into their final two matches unbeaten, needing three points to become runners-up. However, it wasn't to be. In their first game, Victoria Brace opened the scoring and things were going well. But with Tenby squandering their chances, Goodwick waited patiently and they slotted three goals home before Tenby knew what had hit them. In their last match, they met Neyland Hawkes. They played very well, with Ossie, Holly Cloake and Victoria Brace 'man to man' marking some very skilful Neyland players. Leah Hartland and Rhianne Griffiths tackled well and Jenny had an excellent debut. Lowri Lewis was looking good in goal and it looked liked a draw would be the right result, but in the dying seconds, a breakaway by Neyland resulted in a crucial goal. Tenby 14s A: Victoria Brace, Holly Cloake, Leah Hartland, Ossie, Lowri Lewis, Rhianne Griffiths, Jenny.
