UNDER 10s: Tenby U10s picked up six valuable points this week, with two good wins against Kilgetty and Pembroke Bulldogs. In the first game, Bethan Osborne went in goal and kept a clean sheet. Kimberly Alman cleared any threat from Kilgetty, while Lois Horsley and Darcy Escort fed the ball through to Holly Furlong. Holly scored both Tenby's goals in their 2-0 victory. The second match was a very close affair. Vicky Walters and Ella Brace tackled well and Polly Scotcher provided some good passes to Holly and Darcy. Kimberly went in goal. Pembroke scored first, but Tenby equalised through Darcy. Pembroke scored again, but then conceded an own goal to again make the scores level. Darcy scored with a brilliant long shot into the bottom corner, to give Tenby a 3-2 win. 10s squad: Holly Furlong, Ella Brace, Lois Horsley, Kimberly Alman, Bethan Osborne, Vicky Walters, Polly Scotcher, Darcy Escort. Under 12s: Tenby Tornadoes started off brightly against Neyland Hawks. Zoe Brumby played in goal and made some good saves. Molly Goforth made a welcome return and Georgina made her debut for Tenby. Despite good pressure and good defending by Danielle Harries and Roxy Paxton, Neyland managed to score two quick goals to take the points. Felicity Grigg and Yasmin Woods ran well up front, but time ran out before Tenby could manage a goal. In their next game, the girls played really well against a very strong Pembroke Boro side. All the team defended well and Zoe, in goal, stopped the ball bravely. A 0-0 draw was the result of a determined display by the Tornadoes. Tornadoes: Yasmin Woods, Roxy Paxton, Zoe Brumby, Danielle Harries, Felicity Grigg, Georgina, Molly Goforth. Tenby Tigers kept their unbeaten record with another two good wins. They beat Goodwick 1-0, with the goal coming from Nia Thomas. Rhiannon Harley was safe in goal and Sophie Izzard and Elena Ciccotti helped the midfield. Gracie Bevan and Ellen Thomas defended solidly throughout the game. The second match was against Neyland Minnies, which Tenby won 4-0. Nia scored a hat-trick and Sophia scored the other goal. Team: Nia Thomas, Sophie Izzard, Gracie Bevan, Ellen Thomas, Rhiannon Harley, Elena Ciccotti. Under 14s: Tenby Under 14s A played Neyland in a very tight game. Tenby could not manage to score due to good goalkeeping by Neyland, while the defence of Lucia Fecci and Victoria Brace kept out the Neyland forwards. Ellen Thomas played in goal and supplied the ball well to forwards Rhianne Griffiths and Holly Cloake, while Sophie Izzard worked hard in midfield. This game resulted in a 0-0 draw. The second match against Burton resulted in a 2-0 victory to Tenby, with Lucia scoring from a sweetly struck free-kick and Victoria Brace adding the second. Tenby Bs were helped out by Nia and Gracie this week. Megan Robson made her debut and Gracie stepped into the breach in defence. Cheek and Amy Murdoch played well, but despite this, Burton managed to snatch a 1-0 lead. Against Pembroke Boro, despite some very good goalkeeping by Amy, they lost 3-0, although Nia came close to scoring on several occasions. Under 14s A: Victoria Brace, Holly Cloake, Lucia Fecci, Ellen Thomas, Rhianne Griffiths, Sophie Izzard. Under 14s B: Gracie Bevan, Amy Murdoch, Nia Thomas, Megan Robson, Cheek.
TENBY U15s 13 HUNDLETON U15s 0
Tenby attacked from the kick-off and hustled Hundleton into early defensive chaos, allowing Sam Christopher to score from a rebound when Mikey Boswell jumped with the visiting goalkeeper. This early goal encouraged Tenby, and Sam Christopher added his second from a well-taken Guto Griffiths corner, and his third from close range to record a 3-0 lead for his side by the 15th minute. Mikey Boswell then took advantage of the space allowed him around the Hundleton penalty area to put his team 4-0 ahead before Guto Griffiths scored himself after laying on several dangerous crosses and corners to open up further goal-scoring opportunities. Tenby's 5-0 lead by the 20th minute did not deter Hundleton from getting into the game and Joe Scourfield and Kurt Walsh did well to prevent some dangerous attacks down the Tenby left, resulting in an actual strike at goal. It was Hundleton's turn to find their feet, and the play became more even as they challenged more in the middle of the field, and Aaron Goldsmith and Brett Evans worked hard to get possession and break up some dangerous moves before their back four was threatened. Several Hundleton moves got through to Richard Thomas, captaining the Tenby side from his goalmouth in confident style, but his timing served him well as he came out to claim the ball safely on two or three occasions. Tenby's teamwork meant that the dramatic start had been built upon, with players concentrating on supporting each other and denying the visitors any real chance to threaten the 5-0 lead before half-time arrived. The second-half saw enormous pressure being put on the visitors' goal, with several tremendous saves keeping Tenby at bay, before Rob Colley scored from close range. This goal was followed in quick succession by close range efforts from Mikey Boswell to record the second hat-trick of the match and bring his side's score to 8-0 in a game that at last was becoming one-sided. Henry Boot scored a tremendous goal from 25 yards out before he was replaced by Adam John who was returning after injury. Tenby's play began to step up a gear as they realised the importance of goals if they are to win the championship this season, and Mikey Boswell brought the score to 10-0 just in case the effort being put in by their opponents should spoil a 'clean sheet' for his side. This positive attitude in the Tenby team was illustrated when Richard Thomas made a tremendous fingertip save onto the post, and was helped out by a desperate clearance off the goal-line by Luke Dedman and other defenders. Guto Griffiths, who was well supplied by Kurt Walsh and supported by an energetic midfield performance from Brett Evans, looked menacing every time he had the ball and put in crosses that only just needed a touch, before Sam Christopher, cutting inside his fullback, scored two goals in quick succession to put Tenby 12-0 ahead. Rob Colley, after some tireless running up front, gave way to Michael Halligan, with Sam Christopher switching to a more central attacking position, which put great pressure on a Hundleton defence so keen to watch the ball when Guto Griffiths was in possession that they were caught out when he switched the ball inside. As though to demonstrate this, Luke Dedman's free-kick near the end across the field was played back by Guto for Mikey Boswell to give a despairing visiting goalkeeper no chance from close range, to make the final score 13-0. Tenby squad: Richard Thomas (capt.), Henry Boot, Joe Scourfield, Luke Dedman, Kurt Walsh, Sam Christopher, Brett Evans, Aaron Goldsmith, Guto Griffiths, Mikey Boswell, Rob Colley, Adam John, Michael Halligan, Ashley James. Picnic Basket man-of-the-match: Guto Griffiths. Thanks to Peter Horsley for refereeing and to Jack Christopher for running the line.
TENBY U11s 11 MONKTON U11s 0
Tenby entertained Monkton on a rare, sunny Saturday morning. Monkton had the better first 15 minutes, with Will Cowan, Shaun Lewis and Iwan Izzard, supported by midfielders Proctor, Palin and Scotcher, working frantically to keep the ball out of Dan Storer's goal. However, Tenby soon regained composure and went on the counter-attack. Despite some good saves by the Monkton goalie, Tenby were four goals up by the end of the first half, with strikers Alex Bayley scoring once and Robin Goddard getting a hat-trick. Owen Bateman came on in a second half that went entirely Tenby's way, due to an excellent passing display by the team as a whole. Goals were scored by Elliot Scotcher (2), Greg Palin and Jake Proctor in quick succession. Monkton were down, but not out and battled valiantly, always trying to crack Tenby's solid defence. But Tenby finished the game off well with another goal for Bayley, and two more for Goddard, bringing his total for the morning to five. Well done boys!
