Kilgetty opened strongly forcing a scrambled goalmouth clearance and Tenby had further scares moments later with Kilgetty going close on two occasions.
Tenby warmed to the task and exerted some pressure. Ashley Prior collected from a goal kick and buried his shot past the despairing Kilgetty 'keeper for the opening goal.
From a further goal kick David Jones managed a foot on and then left the 'keeper no chance for Tenby's second. David was treating the substantial crowd to an outstanding display of close control with more deft touches and tricks than a bag of monkeys.
However, the Kilgetty defence 'dug in' and worked hard to limit further damage. Soon Tenby were needing to be back 'in numbers' to thwart a Kilgetty onslaught.
Play was fast and furious, the two Ashleys working hard down the left and both defences were involved as each side endeavoured to impose themselves.
This game was far from a drab end of season affair, with pride at stake and skillful players aplenty on both sides. There was no let up in the action.
Tenby opened brightly after he change around and Ashley Prior managed to squeeze in a header at the far post and followed up superbly to grab his hat-trick after David Jones had a snap effort half saved.
David did collect a score with a tap in for Tenby's fifth. Matthew Jones continued his rehabilitation and came on for Ashley Prior.
Ashley Murdock ghosted in with a headed goal for Tenby's sixth. To their credit Kilgetty heads never went down and Dan Colley grabbed a goal for the homesters with a strong run and losing of his 'shadow' Oliver Morgan for once.
Mark Davies came on for David Saunders who had, along with Ben Messenger, worked hard at the back.
Kilgetty were always looking to break and Dan Colley, with support from brother Rob and the Bevan boys, caused Tenby plenty of trouble. Paul Brooks also impressed with his coolness and strength on the ball.
Danny Harries, in the Tenby goal was beginning to see more of the ball but captain Oliver Morgan worked like a trojan to hold Tenby together.
Tenby were not to be denied, however, and took the spoils in an exciting and competitive match.
Tenby team: Danny Harries, David Saunders, Ben Messenger, Oliver Morgan (capt), Damian Walters, Matthew Fleming, Jack Lawrence, Jamie Robinson, Ashley Prior, David Jones, Matthew Jones, Mark Davies.
NEYLAND LADIES 0
TENBY LADIES 7
Tenby's Famous £1 Shop sponsored ladies side met Neyland Ladies in a mid-week league match.
Tenby dominated the game, with Nicola Aston playing up front and netting four goals.
She was ably assisted by Louise Cooper, while the midfield of Denise Powell, Michaela Bevan, Ani Nicholls and Angela Nicholls made sure they were supplied with plenty of ball.
Once again, the Tenby defence was rock solid, with Imelde Rossi and Carrie Slack unbeatable in central defence. Cally Roberts on the right and Hazel Sawyer at left-back were impressive with their tackling and marking.
Imelde scored from a scramble after a corner, while Denise also headed in from another corner. Louise scored the seventh goal when she was put through by a good ball from Nicola, and her sister Sarah kept a clean sheet in the Tenby goal.
A vital three points were earned to push Tenby up to third in the league table.
Thanks to all the travelling supporters.

TENBY UNDER 12s 6
GOODWICK 0
The Picnic Basket sponsored Tenby U12s were determined for revenge when they re-met Goodwick.
After 'giving' away three penalties in their previous meeting, Tenby made sure that they were in control.
Guto Griffiths made a welcome return to the side and his contribution of four goals helped enormously to ease the pressure.
Gavin Kinsey opened the scoring for Tenby after some good work by Scott Helmich on the right side; his pinpoint cross was flicked on by Griffiths allowing Kinsey to comfortably slot the ball home.
Tenby's next came after Thomas Spencer knocked a long ball out of defence. Sam Christopher flicked it on for Griffiths to run onto and score.
Good passing by Helmich and Jordan Lloyd manufactured Griffiths' second goal, with Lloyd's determination in the tackle paying great dividends.
Griffiths got his hat-trick after a great goalkick by Luke Dedman was met by Aaron Goldsmith who put Griffiths away.
Joe Scourfield and Adam Johns tackled well throughout the game and Richard Thomas kept a clean sheet, which included a brave one-on-one save against a Goodwick forward.
Griffiths scored his fourth goal in the second half before Richard Jones came on for him.
Then Christopher was rewarded for his all round effort with Tenby's seventh goal to round off an excellent team performance.
Tenby: Richard Thomas, Luke Dedman, Thomas Spencer, Scott Helmich, Sam Christopher (capt.), Joe Scourfield, Guto Griffiths, Jordan Lloyd, Aaron Goldsmith, Richard Jones, Gavin Kinsey, Adam Johns.
PENNAR U12s 1
TENBY U12s 1
Last Monday, the Picnic Basket sponsored Tenby U12s travelled to Pennar. This was an exciting game, with both sides playing some good football.
Tenby opened the scoring when Aaron Goldsmith put Sam Christopher through. Christopher controlled the ball well and scored his 70th goal of the season.
Tenby could have built on this lead as Richard Jones and Christopher had several chances.
In return, Pennar piled on the pressure and despite some good defending by Kurt Smith, Thomas Spencer, Scott Helmich and Joe Scourfield, they equalised when a ball was played across the back instead of being cleared. The pace of the Pennar forward gave Richard Thomas, in the Tenby goal, no chance.
With the absence of captain Billy Vaughan, Adam Johns and Aaron Goldsmith held the midfield, with Goldsmith in particularly having an outstanding game. He swept up the midfield and turned defence into attack with his skilful touches and creative passing.
Jordan Lloyd and Gavin Kinsey, on the flanks, were supplied with plenty of the ball and both attacked well, but the Pennar defence stood resolute.
Christopher came very close to scoring again in the second half and Jones had a terrific left-foot shot that hit the bar and would have been goal of the season if it had gone in. Unfortunately for Tenby, no one was following up and another chance went begging.
Alex Smith came on as sub for Tenby and immediately got involved with the play.
Towards the end, Pennar nearly snatched a late winner and seconds later a free-kick went just over the bar.
Both managers were relieved to hear the final whistle and a 1-1 draw was a fair reflection of this entertaining match.
Tenby: Richard Thomas, Aaron Goldsmith, Sam Christopher (capt.), Joe Scourfield, Adam John, Jordan Lloyd, Gavin Kinsey, Alex Smith, Kurt Smith, Richard Jones, Scott Helmich, Thomas Spencer.
Thanks to all the parents for their support.
CARMARTHEN LADIES 1 TENBY LADIES 6
Tenby attacked from the start, but found the packed defence too much of a barrier to get any real power behind their shooting.
Although pinned in their own half for most of the game, the 10 brave Carmarthen players did well and the goalkeeper got behind any of the shots which were on the target.
Michaela Bevan was the pick of the Tenby forwards and always looked dangerous both in shooting and in crossing the ball, where more alertness in front of goal would surely have given them the lead.
Carmarthen broke dangerously on a couple of occasions and Sarah Cooper in the Tenby goal kicked clear to deal with the danger.
Cally Roberts and Hazel Sawyer came forward to give support to the runs from Carrie Slack, but Tenby could not get the width in attack needed to draw their opponents out.
Angela Nicholls came close with a long curling shot which was well headed clear, and just when it was looking that Tenby should show more imagination in attack, Imelde Rossi gave a lesson in determination by riding several tackles to fire into the Carmarthen net from 15 yards.
Tenby's 1-0 lead at half-time looked a poor return for a team in form in its last two matches, and a greater second half effort brought about the improvement needed.
Carrie Slack, operating in a more advanced position, put Tenby 2-0 in front, and just when the team began to play with more rhythm, Clare Dooley forced the ball in from close range to get the third.
After a lack of concentration on the left, Tenby conceded their first goal in the league this year when a Carmarthen forward crashed the ball past Sarah Cooper from close range.
This seemed to jolt Tenby out of their casual style of play and Michaela Bevan added a fourth to restore some sense of respectability to the game, although Louise Cooper came close and Ani Nicholls tried hard in midfield.
Goals at the end by Nicola Aston, the sixth one in particular being impressive from good passing and running down the left by Hazel Sawyer and Carrie Slack, whose pass to Michaela Bevan produced a precision cross for a decisive finish, gave some idea of the ability of the two teams.
Tenby squad was: Sarah Cooper, Cally Roberts, Carrie Slack, Imelde Rossi, Hazel Sawyer, Angela Nicholls, Clare Dooley, Louise Cooper, Ani Nicholls, Nicola Aston, Michaela Bevan.
MERLINS BRIDGE U13s 3 TENBY U13s 2
The Tenby and Saundersfoot Lions sponsored league champions-elect took on Merlins Bridge in superb weather at Haverfordwest.
The pitch was bone-hard due no doubt to the fine weather the county has been basking in.
Tenby exerted early pressure, but Bridge were first with an effort on goal from the dangerous Craig Barnet.
Bridge took the lead with a tap-in from a cross after Oliver Morgan had cleared from a corner. Matthew Bush increased the lead with a well struck shot.
The Tenby defence was working hard dealing with an succession of Bridge attacks. 'Keeper Danny Harries had never been involved so much all season.
Tenby were missing midfield spark and could find little rhythm, and half-time arrived with the Bridge still holding their two-goal advantage.
Tenby, now with the slope and strengthening breeze, opened the second half strongly with early pressure. David Jones went close from a Jamie corner, while Oliver saw his header go straight at the 'keeper from another one.
But Tenby, vulnerable on the break, were further punished by another Bridge strike to make the score 3-0.
Tenby lacked precision in their play, with a static midfield and strikers who invariably faced three and four defenders.
Ashley Prior opened Tenby's account with well-taken goal from a Jamie Robinson corner, and claimed his second with alert play from another corner.
Suddenly Tenby were back in with a shout after looking dead and buried.
However, it was not to be their day and for only the second time this term their colours were lowered.
Tenby need to learn from this; they cannot take good opposition lightly. However, champions they remain and Briers' boys have done the club proud this season. Congratulations to all involved.
The Pembrokeshire Under 13s League winners trophy was presented to the victorious Tenby team after the match by the league chairman, Norman Hanlon.
Tenby team: Danny Harries, David Saunders, Ben Messenger, Oliver Morgan (capt.), James Davies, Matthew Fleming, Jack Lawrence, Jamie Robinson, David Jones, Ashley Prior, Matthew Jones.
