Tenby U15s 3

Lamphey U15s 3

This was really a game of two halves, with Lamphey dominating the first half, taking a 3-1 lead, and Tenby superbly fighting back to pick up a valuable league point.

Lamphey started brightly and Tenby found themselves 1-0 down early on after some very poor passing and defending.

Time and time again, Lamphey broke through and piled the pressure on the Tenby goal.

After a rare Tenby attack, the referee awarded them a direct free-kick, which Niall Kinsella coolly placed into the top corner of the net.

The equaliser resulted in Lamphey stepping up their game and two more well-taken goals quickly followed, leaving Tenby shell-shocked.

After a stern talking to at half-time, Tenby came out with a much better attitude.

Passes started to reach their own players and there were more challenges in midfield.

Shaun Whitfield gave Tenby hope with a lovely dropping shot from 20 yards out that flew sweetly into the back of the net.

With Tenby now stepping up the pressure, it was Lamphey's turn for frantic defending, resulting in Jerome Mansbridge being tripped in the box.

A penalty was awarded and Kinsella calmly scored the equaliser.

The last 10 minutes were nail-biting, with end to end play, as both teams tried to get the winning goal.

Tenby were relieved to hear the final whistle and were left to reflect on how the game should be played over 80 minutes, rather than just the second half.

Tenby squad: Lewis Roberts, Jacob Dent, Shaun Whitfield, Nathan Wilson, George Wilkins, Richard Tebbutt, Niall Kinsella, James Bridges, Rhys Jenkins, Jerome Mansbridge, Norton Williams, Rheinalt George, Rob Davies.

Camrose U15s 0

Tenby U15s 4

Tenby were well on top for most of this match, and worked hard to turn their midfield superiority into goals.

Rhys Jenkins opened the scoring following a corner and Niall Kinsella added two more to make the score 3-0 to the visitors at half-time.

Richard Tebbutt and Niall Kinsella were impressive for Tenby and supplied Rhys Jenkins with crossfield passes to create a lot of danger on the right.

Tenby produced some good passing moves and Camrose had to be content just to keep the score down to have any chance of getting ahead in the second half.

Camrose hoped to do better down the slope, but this optimism was not justified, and Tenby created more chances up the slope, with Jerome Mansbridge adding another for the visitors.

Camrose had one good opportunity from a header, which Lewis Roberts pushed smartly over the crossbar, while Tenby were able to play their passing game without much pressure from the home team.

Tenby squad: Lewis Roberts, Jacob Dent, Rob Davies, Shaun Whitfield, Nathan Wilson, Niall Kinsella, Rhys Jenkins, Richard Tebbutt, George Wilkins, James Bridges, Jerome Mansbridge, Norton Williams.

Narberth U14s 1 Tenby U14s 7

Another solid performance by the Park Road Fish and Chip sponsored Tenby U14s secured three more points in the league and provided a good warm up for the West Wales cup semi-final on Saturday.

Tenby dominated possession from the kick-off and opened the scoring from a corner, when a Lloyd Hughes header was cleared off the line and Declan Escott carefully placed a low shot through a crowd of players.

A neat exchange of passes between Luke Hartland, Charlie Gammer and Adam John then played in Lloyd Hughes, who curled his shot just wide. As Tenby gained in composure, a dozen quick passes sliced open the Narberth defence, and Hughes again went close.

Narberth looked for an equaliser on the break and won a corner, but a good defensive header from Adam Muskett cleared the danger. Tenby broke away quickly and Lloyd Hughes raced onto an exquisite through ball from Declan Escott and fired in the Seasiders' second.

Narberth grabbed a goal back from the penalty spot, and enjoyed a spell of pressure, but Tenby soon regained their two-goal cushion when Scott Ferney placed a stunning shot in the top corner. The midfielder then added to his tally with an impressive 25-yard free-kick to make it 4-1 at the interval.

Tenby continued to press in the second half, but the Narberth 'keeper did his best to keep the score respectable, tipping a Declan Escott effort onto the bar and turning a Charlie Gammer shot round the post.

The Narberth defence and midfield also played their part, getting plenty of bodies behind the ball and making life difficult for the visitors. Tenby almost added a fifth after a long diagonal pass from Owen Coombs was flicked on to Declan Escott, only for his shot to come back off the bar.

Tenby eventually got their fifth, after Scott Ferney beat two defenders on the right and played in Declan Escott. And Charlie Gammer then had another shot pushed onto the post.

As Tenby pushed forward, Narberth made a rare break and Will Davies did well to race out of his area to clear the ball with his feet.

The versatile Dan Evans came on as a sub for Tenby and immediately made an impact putting in Tenby for yet another chance. Moments later, Lloyd Hughes turned a defender and fired in from the edge of the area to take Tenby's tally to six.

Chances galore followed, with Ben Roberts pushing up into midfield and Charlie Gammer and Adam John thrusting forward at every opportunity.

Tenby capped an impressive display with the best move of the morning. Sweeping the ball from right to left, they left the Narberth defence chasing shadows, and created space for Declan Effort to tee up a dramatic seventh from all of 30 yards.

Tenby 8 St Clears 3

A damp, drizzly Saturday morning saw Tenby U12s reach the final of the Pembrokeshire Knockout Cup.

After a nervous start in their semi-final clash, St. Clears went one up through a good free-kick headed into the top corner of the net.

Tenby bounced back, though, and played some attractive football, which saw them equalise quite quickly.

The Seasiders soon got back into rhythm and scored another two quick goals, which dampened the spirits of the St. Clears contingent

Still leading 3-1 at the interval, the second half saw Tenby, with the slope advantage, continue to move the ball well around the pitch.

Some excellent defending also held St. Clears off, while Tenby's midfield moved the ball to the wingers, who continued to put excellent crosses into the danger area, where their attackers were sharp.

Tenby continued to control the game and eventually eased to a very comfortable victory by eight goals to three.

Matt Broadhurst and Carl Wainwright, team coach and manager, were jubilant after the boys' win and reaching their first cup final.

Tenby will play Hakin in the final, after they beat Goodwick in the other semi-final on penalties after extra-time.

The date has yet to be arranged, but all support for the boys would be appreciated.

clarbeston road 3

This week, Tenby U10s saw the return leg of last week's game with Clarbeston Road.

Tenby started off sluggishly and it was a very even game. Clarbie forced some good defending by Lucas Probert and Elliot Wherrett, but due to the hard work of central midfield duo, Harry Rossiter and Zac Rowell, Tenby started to gain possession.

Then against the run of play and following a lapse in concentration, Clarbie scored a cheeky little goal.

The heads went down, but with encouragement from the back two, Tenby picked themselves up and with some great midfield play, Harry put Eathen Shapcott through to score the equaliser.

It was one-all and the game was end to end. Tenby's wingers, Ollie Brown and Joe Simmons, ran well up and down the flanks, putting some great balls into the box for Eathen and Zac to get onto, but Clarbie's 'keeper was excellent, and they could put nothing past him.

The second half saw Tenby make a few changes, with Ollie Brown in goal, Jay Brace having a rare run on the wing and regular 'keeper Lewis Catt trying his hand in defence. Ollie was called straight into action, making save after save, only to be wrong-footed by a deflection - 2-1 to Clarbie.

The boys worked hard from the restart and Elliott took one of his trademark long range shots, only for nippy little striker, Joe Evans, to get on the end of it and nick the goal.

Two-all and minutes later Zac went on one of his mazy little runs and put the ball into the bottom corner to put Tenb y 3-2 up.

But Clarbie hadn't finished yet and it seemed like Tenby were defending for the last 10 minutes.

Lewis and Lucas soaked up the pressure, but the Clarbie attack was relentless. Then the equaliser came from a well-taken corner and the game ended as a draw.

Once again this was a great game by the Seasiders, who showed great spirit. Also credit must go to Clarbeston Road, who battled from start to finish. Well played all of you!

Tenby: Jay Brace, Ollie Brown, Zac Rowell, Lewis Catt, Lucas Probert, Elliot Wherrett, Joe Evans, Joe Simmons, Harry Rossiter and Eathen Shapcott.

Tenby Under 9s 3

Hakin Under 9s 3

Tenby AFC Under 9s were home again at the weekend, when they hosted Hakin at the Clicketts.

Sponsored by Quay West of Newquay, Tenby Under 9s have been playing some entertaining football of late, and with Hakin also playing well, this proved to be an excellent display.

The opening exchanges were fairly even, but you just knew this game would produce goals and the first duly arrived courtesy of Darren Gibson's right foot for the Seasiders.

Both goalies were kept busy as the match ebbed and flowed and Hakin drew level with an effort from close range.

Tenby got their noses in front once more, though, when a Tate Lawrence shot was deflected past the Hakin 'keeper by his own defender.

The visitors then turned the power on and scored two goals, in as many minutes, from two excellent movements.

However, Tenby continued to pass well and scored probably the goal of the match. Good interpassing between Rhys Morgan and Lawrence saw the latter pull his cross back from the bye-line to an unmarked James Gardner, who hit an unstoppable shot into the top left-hand corner of the goal.

And so the game ended a draw, which was a fair result for two very evenly matched teams.

The match was played in good spirit, with both sides showing skill and commitment and a credit to both clubs.

TENBY U13s 1

MUMBLES RANGERS 2

(ater extra-time)

The Andrew Price sponsored U13s travelled to St. Clears to play in their West Wales Cup semi-final against Mumbles Rangers.

With Harry unable to play, a reshuffle at the back saw Billy partner Jordan and Matthew and Harri at fullbacks. Natty played his part in goal and there was a strong midfield of George, Jack, Frazer and Malley, with Adam and Louis up front.

Maybe a little nervous, the boys took a few minutes to settle, with Mumbles, the bigger side, playing the ball around with a little more confidence. And it was Mumbles who scored first. With a ball over the top, their quick running left wing chased it and as Natty closed the angle down, but a great low drive just beat the outstretched 'keeper to make it 1-0.

Tenby seemed to wake up and they themselves had chances at the other end. George and Jack got through plenty of work, as well as Louis and Adam, who were now linking up really well up front, but the half finished with the score still 1-0, and the game anyone's.

As the boys kicked off the second half, whatever Lloyd had said to them seemed to work, as it was all Tenby, with Frazer giving the Mumbles right-back a torrid time. He forced a series of corners and with a great cross in from the left, Louis stretched out his right foot, spun round and looped a delightful volley into the net, much to the delight of the Tenby players.

Jordan and Billy played like their lives depended on it, equally supported by Matthew and Harri, who tackled and ran with a passion. George and Jack were winning the midfield battle and, along with the hard-working Malley and Frazer, kept Mumbles on their toes all game. Natty, who had little to do earlier, now showed his class with some brilliant saves.

As normal time came to an end, Tenby had a free-kick inside the Mumbles box after a back pass; the ball was driven low, but failed to bother the 'keeper and soon after, the referee blew for full-time with the score locked at 1-1.

So on into extra-time, with much the same box to box football. Both teams were showing a little tiredness - and who could blame them - but no one wanted to lose as extra-time ticked away.

Then again with a ball over the top almost a carbon copy of the first and again a low drive just beat Natty's outstretched hand to make it 2-1.

The first period of extra-time came to an end, and a quick turn around saw Tenby trying hard to get back level.

Jack had a brilliant run into the Mumbles box, but his shot was saved by a relieved 'keeper, while at the other end Natty had to make saves as the game was nearing the end.

With minutes to go, George ran the ball into the box and crossed a square ball to Adam, who hit his shot goalwards, only to see the Mumbles 'keeper watch helplessly as the ball rolled the wrong side of the upright.

With the resulting goal-kick, the referee blew for full-time, with heartbroken Tenby narrowly losing 2-1.

But even in defeat the boys were magnificent and Jason and Lloyd could not have asked for any more from them; they did indeed do Tenby proud. So 'well done boys', let's keep going and finish the season with a trophy.

Thanks to all the parents and everyone who supported the boys in this excellent semi-final. 'Get well soon Harry'.

Team: Natty, Matthew, Harri, Billy, Jordan (C), Malley, Jack, Adam, Louis, George, Frazer and Ben.
