Tenby returned to top form in their final league game of the season with an emphatic victory away to Goodwick.
Before the game, Tenby received the league winners trophy in a short presentation attended by their families, including team kit sponsors Andrew and Sarah Williams, of Park Road Fish and Chips.
Rising to the occasion, a full-strength Tenby line-up played some of their best football of the season with polished performances across the park.
With the wind behind them in the first-half, the Seasiders soon had Goodwick pinned back and forced several early corners. After a couple of near misses, they opened the scoring through a Lloyd Hughes volley at the far post.
As Goodwick pulled everyone back to try and contain the visitors, the penalty area became very congested, but Tenby continued to create chances. Scott Ferney sent a left-foot shot just wide. Adam John hit the top of the bar with a long range effort. And Owen Coombs, pushing up for corners, fired just over with a couple of powerful volleys.
Tenby stayed patient and continued to play neat passing football, and were rewarded when Lloyd Hughes scored his second with a low shot just inside the left post. Spencer Williams then made it three before half-time with a shot from the right wing that curled in at the far post.
In the second half, Tenby had the wind against them, and Goodwick pushed players forward. But Tenby stayed solid at the back with Luke Hartland, Tom Harries and Sam Perrett all having excellent games.
Tenby also looked well balanced in midfield. Adam John battled brilliantly, closing down the opposition quickly and winning several crucial tackles, while Declan Escott held the ball up allowing Tenby to get men forward. And it was no surprise when Spencer Williams made it 4-0 soon after the restart.
Tenby didn't have it all their own way, however. The swirling wind helped Goodwick to break quickly with long balls to the front men. But when William Davies spilled the ball, and Goodwick were put clean through on goal, Owen Coombs sprinted across the area and slid in to deflect the ball behind.
As the game became more open, Tenby went back on the attack. Charlie Gammer had a goal chalked off for offside, before a cross was deflected in by a Goodwick defender to make it 5-0.
Midway through the second half, Adam Muskett and Jake Morgan came on at the back, and goalkeeper Daniel Evans enjoyed a rare outing in midfield. He immediately made his mark scoring from close range after a great pass from Scott Ferney.
Tenby soon made it seven. A neat turn from Declan Escott made space for a dipping left-foot cross, and Spencer Williams completed his hat-trick with an simple finish at the far post.
Charlie Gammer then deservedly got on the score sheet, drilling in a low shot to make it 8-0, and almost added a ninth with another great attempt that hit the post.
Congratulations to the Tenby U12 squad for an outstanding season in the league which saw them win 23, draw one, lose none, and score 228 goals in 24 matches.
Thanks to the parents for their encouragement throughout the season, to manager Kevin Ferney, and to all those who acted as referees and assistant referees and helped in many other ways to support the team.
