Staff at Tenby’s Cottage Hospital enjoyed a delicious Easter treat delivered to their doorstep when a local student put her baking skills to use to produce a delightful selection of colourful cookies and starry shortbread dedicated to the NHS.
Thirteen-year-old Georgie Kidd of Penally, a pupil at Tenby’s Greenhill School said that she loves creating ‘delicious’ treats and in this troublesome time wanted to create something to show gratitude and thanks to all the NHS.
“I baked chocolate cookies, shortbread and scones and decorated them with rainbows, angels and golden stars,” she said.
“I have always enjoyed baking for celebrations and my first design was for Remembrance Sunday in 2018 - when I baked a Victoria sponge in the shape of a poppy and iced it in red. I photographed it against a background of floral poppies.
“Then came Christmas, birthdays, Valentines and Easter. My cakes were becoming more adventurous and full of colour!” she continued, adding that her father dropped off her latest creation at Tenby Cottage Hospital this week and the staff were very thankful.
