Art enthusiasts recently enjoyed a highly successful art auction in Tenby.

Organised by START (Sri Lankan Trust to Aid and Rebuild Tangalle) in aid of its continuing work in Sri Lanka, the audience was treated to an impressive display of the talents of local artists.

Under the expert management of auctioneer, Mr. Graham Evans, over 40 paintings fell to the hammer.

Thanks to the generosity of the keen bidders the works of art fetched a total of £6,000.

START founder, Mr. Paul Cowper, commented: "The success of the evening demonstrates the wealth of talent amongst Pembrokeshire artists. There was such a positive response from artists that I believe there is the potential for more such events. The money raised will help us to continue with our work in Sri Lanka where small charities like ours are still making a real difference."

Thanks go to all who contributed to the event, including of course the artists themselves and sponsors Princess Gate, The Three Mariners and The Blue Ball.

START will be planning more fund-raising events over the summer months.
