Pembroke Dock Quins Carnival saw one of the best turnouts for many a year on Saturday.

Appreciation must go to Clr. Peter Kraus, the town’s Mayor, who really worked hard to get as many floats involved.

Winners of the float section were the First & Last pub who created a Rock ‘n’ Roll theme float, followed by Elly’s flag and then The Grandmas Day Out to Blackpool.

Prizes were awarded for Under 9s walkers in fancy dress which was won by Where’s Wally, followed by Doc and Mrs. Stuffing. For the over 9s, the prize was awarded to Dot and Nick, followed by Pirate and the dog.

In total, there were nine floats with the parade being expanded by the ASDA van handing out sweets and Thomas the Tank Engine horse drawn cart. With various walkers and two dance schools in the parade being led by the Town Borough Silver Band, it was one of the longest processions for many years.

On the field at Pembroke Dock Quins, there were various funfair rides and bouncy castles and a number of stalls, including Berry’s bottle stall, Help for Heroes Tesco Healthy Eating and Rob Parker from the Pembrokeshire Wildlife Project.

Unfortunately, the rain put a dampener on proceedings, but for the short time that was enjoyed, it was fun, with organisers already planning a bigger and better event next year!
