Dyffryn Taf School and Carmarthen Harriers athlete Daniel Blain has completed a very successful season of athletics by representing Wales at the UK School Games at Sheffeld's Don Valley Stadium.
Sprint hurdler Daniel ran well in a competitive race to finish fourth by photo finish against the best 100m hurdlers in the UK.
This competition concluded a season which has seen Daniel become Welsh Schools and Welsh Athletics champion. On winning the Welsh Schools Championships in Brecon, Daniel ran a new personal best of 13.37 seconds.
This achievement was further rewarded when he was awarded the Colin Jackson Memorial Bowl for hurdler of the day. His name will now be added to the silverware alongside some of Wales' most successful hurdlers such as recent 400m hurdles world champion Dai Greene.
In addition to representing Wales at the UK school games, he also competed for his country in the annual schools international at Cardiff's International Sport Stadium.
Next season, Daniel will hope to continue his success in the sport when he enters the Under 20 age group where he will compete in the 110m hurdles.
