Every year the Parochial Church Council of St. Mary’s Church, Tenby, support a variety of charities, local, national and international, besides striving to maintain and enhance the beautiful church buildings, and on Sunday, May 15, Pentecost Sunday, representatives of some of these charities joined the family Eucharist congregation and were presented with cheques by the rector, Canon Andrew Grace.
The charities they represented were: Tenby Rainbows, Brownies and Guides, Tenby Talking Newspaper, Friends of the Community, Pembrokeshire Mind, Paul Sartori Foundation, Crohn’s and Colitis UK, The Stroke Association, Unique - a charity dealing with rare chromosome disorders, Pembrokeshire Voluntary Transport, H.O.P.E.
Other charities which will receive cheques at a later date include the Sea and Air Cadets, the Salvation Army, Pembrokeshire Cancer Support, Bloodwise, the Alzheimer’s Association and Tenby Avenue Centre, and Water Aid.
Of course the church continues to support Christian Aid as well as caravan holidays for needy families.
We feel that this is an essential part of our mission, and we are grateful that the revenue from the Rectory car-park enables us to help so many worthwhile causes.
