On Wednesday, November 27, children from Tenby Junior School competed for their first time in the Urdd Swimming Gala.
Years 5 and 6 swam in the morning, all children doing extremely well, with some of the swimmers now going through to represent Pembrokeshire in Swansea.
Danny Brown and Tasha Kinsey had two firsts and two seconds, the boys freestyle relay (Lloyd Thomas, Jack Oakley, Danny Brown and Curtis Hurlow) came first, and Loui Fecci, Lloyd Thomas, Danny Brown and Sam Ormond also won the medley relay.
All the above are now off to Swansea in the new year.
In the afternoon, it was the chance for Years 3 and 4 to shine, and did they shine.
Elliot Scotcher and Eleanor Brown had two second places each, and Chloe Ormond, Sydney Vickery, Nia Thomas and Eleanor Brown won the medley relay and are also off to Swansea.
A big thank you to all the parents who helped with transport. Without your support the children wouldn't have been able to compete. Thanks to Mrs. Ormond, Miss Vickery, Mrs. Brown, Eleanor's grandparents and Mrs. Dedonker.
A very big thank you to Mrs. Carol Brown for sorting out the team on poolside.
BOYS WIN AREA
URDD FOOTBALL
On Monday, November 25, Tenby boys took part in the annual Area Football Tournament at Tenby Leisure Centre (writes Alex Harley). Our first match was against Pembroke Dock and we won 2-0. Then we were up against St. Oswalds -another win, this time 4-0.
In the semi-final we played Hakin. They were tough opposition and the score was close, 4-3. In the final we were up against Stepaside, another hard team to play. We managed to beat them 1-0.
We are now through to the next stage, representing Pembrokeshire.
The team was Henry Lawrence, Alex Harley, Joseph Richards, Lloyd Thomas, Daryl Mansbridge, Greg Lees Griffiths and Ianto Griffiths.
GIRLS URDD FOOTBALL
On December 3, seven girls from Tenby Junior School went to Milford for a football tournament (writes captain Lucy Morris).
Our first match was against St. Mary's. They were eager to win as well as us! They were a good team, but the final score was 1-0 to us. The team worked together down the pitch, with Joanna scoring the first goal in the match!
After a few more matches with other schools, it was our turn to play Stepaside. From a great win from our first match we were feeling positive! Both teams played really well, but the final score was 0-0.
We really wanted to do our best in the next match against Pembroke Dock, because they had won the rest of their matches! There was no way they were beaten.
They put up a good fight, and so did we, but in the end the score was 0-0.
We were a little team, but we were lucky to come second in the tournament.
Team: Lucy Morris, Emma Griffiths, Joanna Rowe, Amy Williams, Emma Robertson, Bethan Roberts and Elena Ciccotti.
