A 25th wedding anniversary held at a Pembrokeshire venue has helped raise £620 for the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home charity.

Mr & Mrs Griffiths from Haverfordwest celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary at Haverfordwest Cricket Club on August 16 with family and friends. And instead of presents they invited guests to donate to their specified local charity, Paul Sartori Hospice at Home.

The couple gathered donations in and were speechless and quite emotional with the final amount. The couple, who got married on 14th August 1999, asked family and friends to donate to charity instead of presents, but Jamie and Alyson Griffiths had no idea how much they would raise.

“The amount raised for Paul Sartori far exceeded our expectations. I was very overwhelmed when we got to £300, but it continued to come in. We were astounded at how generous our friends and family were. I want to thank everyone for their kind gesture and donation,” said Alyson.

Jamie and Alyson, being local residents of Pembrokeshire, are aware of the charity and its impact in the community. Alyson is a member of the Paul Sartori Community Choir, and has also participated in other fundraising events for the charity close to her heart.

Accepting the donation on behalf of the charity, Judith Williams Grant Development Officer for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home said: “Firstly, Congratulations to Jamie and Alyson on their Silver Anniversary.

“It is through the generosity of local people that the charity can continue to provide free end-of-life services in Pembrokeshire, so thank you to Jamie and Alyson and their friends and family for donating so generously.”

Celebrations and special occasions like these can help to raise much-needed funds for the charity.
